Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

Can I bring my dog?

Yes! All of our lodges are now pet friendly. Pets are charged at £15 per pet per stay - add them at the checkout. A blanket and doggy gift pack are provided for your pooch. Please note that pets are not permitted on furniture unless on their blanket, or in the bedrooms, and must not be left unattended in the lodge. We have a maximum of two dogs permitted in each lodge.

What time can I get there?

Check-in is from 4pm and Check-out is by 10am. If you’d like to arrive earlier or check-out later, please get in touch with us to confirm availability for your request.

What is your minimum number of nights?

Our minimum is 3 nights in all lodges. However, during quieter periods or last minute, we can sometimes accept shorter bookings. The calendar automatically updates to show this.

Are you open all year round?

Yes! We are open all year - in fact, winter is our favourite time of year in the Highlands. What better way to make use of the cosy log burner!

Please be mindful that there can be snow and ice in winter months, and we’d always advise traveling with a 4x4 vehicle. The lodges are accessed via a steep hill, so please bear this in mind. For Christmas 2023 the last available check in date is 22nd Dec with departure 27th. For New Year the check in day is 29th Dec, with check out dates from 3rd Jan onwards. There is a 5 night minimum over this period.

What do I need to bring?

You will find the following inside your lodge: towels, bedding, tea towel, dish cloth & washing up liquid, hand soap, pots, pans, cutlery, crockery etc, salt & pepper, tea, coffee and sugar, starter pack of firewood & matches, starter supply of toilet roll.

You’ll need to bring with you: food & drink as well as toiletries such as shampoo, additional toilet rolls, shower gel etc. We have additional firewood available free of charge on site however you are also welcome bring your own - see “What about firewood."

Is there a booking Deposit?

A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking, with the remaining balance due 4 weeks before arrival. If cancelling more than 4 weeks before arrival, a 10% cancellation admin fee will apply, with the remainder refunded. Please see our T&Cs for more info.

Can I add something special to my booking?

Absolutely - we can offer a Prosecco package (a bottle of bubbly with ice bucket and glasses), a Celebration package (Prosecco package plus bunting, greetings card, chocolates, and a cake), or we can tailor make something at your request! Ask for more details and see Special Offers.

What about firewood?

A starter supply of firewood is provided free of charge inside your lodge, which contains a bunch of compressed sawdust logs with 2 starter logs - flammable paper wrapped eco logs. You can collect additional chopped traditional logs free of charge from our log sheds. Additional starters are available at our shop in reception. You can bring your own firewood, however please ensure that it is small in size so as not to damage the internal bricks or door glass of the stove.

Are you child friendly?

Absolutely - children and infants are welcome at Ancarraig and can often be seen exploring the woodland and lakes. For younger ones we can offer fire guards, cots and high chairs, and all balconies have vertical slats (not climbing friendly!) and gates at the top of the stairs, enclosing the balcony. Also a good measure for dogs!

Can I hire a cot and high chair?

Absolutely - simply add them to your reservation at the time of booking, or drop us an email before your stay. Please do be sure to give us some notice to ensure availability. Both are free of charge.

Can I add an extra bed?

Sadly not - we’ve tried and tested this and it’s just not comfortable. The lodges are built for 4 people maximum, and having any more hinders the enjoyment the lodge offers and also contravenes our insurance policy. Cots are the exception.

Why Book Direct?

Hopefully you have noticed that our direct pricing is up to 20% cheaper than the booking websites - this is due to the high fees they charge. If you book direct with us, we can give you the very best rate.

How far are your lodges from the shops and restaurants?

The lodges are located 3 miles from the village of Drumnadrochit, or “Drum” as the locals call it. Here you will find a large ScotMid (Co-op), a number of pub/restaurants, local cafes and some independent shops. The Loch Ness Centre and Exhibition is also in Drum, and well worth a visit.

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes! All of our return guests receive 10% as a thank you for their repeat custom. We also offer 10% discount to those with a Defence Privilege Card/Blue Light Card/Valid photo ID card. Get in touch to have your discount applied to your booking. Click here for more information on our discounts and special offers.

I can’t see my dates, are they available?

Our online booking system shows you the live availability for each lodge type, however if you are unsure, or you would like to discuss availability over the phone, then give us a call or drop us an email. If the dates seem to be available but you are unable to book, it may be that the nights are available within the type of lodge, but not in the same lodge.

Is there parking?

Yes - each lodge has its own dedicated space right outside. If you have more that one car, there is overflow parking at reception.

How are the lodges heated?

The log burner in the living area provides a significant amount of heat. However, each bedroom has its own electric heater and you’ll also find one in the living area.

Do you have Wi-Fi?

Yes, Wi-Fi is available and has been updated with a brand new network in 2023. Due to our rural location it can occasionally be a little temperamental with weather conditions, however it’s pretty stable thanks to our upgrade, just not fibre speeds sadly!

What if I get Covid?

COVID is now a known risk and it is possible for you to insure your holiday against it. Ancarraig strongly recommends that you acquire suitable insurance to cover circumstances beyond your control. Please read more on our Covid policy HERE.
